Bloomlet: the Norwegian learning platform making student life simpler
Published 16 Sep 2026 · 3 min read
Ten years ago, Linda Lorense Refsnes found herself balancing 13 kilos of law textbooks with a newborn baby while studying for her first-year law exams. One question stayed with her: why couldn't knowledge be streamed in the same way as music?
That question became the starting point for Bloomlet, a technology company from Trondheim that has developed a digital platform for students.
The platform brings together the student journey, from community engagement to academic resources, in a single workspace.
Bloomlet has now been awarded the Made in Norway label.
“Made in Norway highlights what Norwegian origin represents to us: quality, trust, and technology developed with students at the centre. ”
Linda Lorense Refsnes
Founder and CEO of Bloomlet
From textbooks to technology
Bloomlet was born from personal experience. Ten years ago, while studying law, Linda Lorense Refsnes became a mother. Managing a demanding degree alongside a new family life proved challenging, with extensive reading requirements and high academic expectations.
Many hours were spent pushing a pram while her textbooks remained at home, and it was during those walks that the question emerged: why can't knowledge be streamed in the same way as music, anywhere and at any time?
At the time, the technology did not exist. Today, students are accustomed to increasingly personalised experiences through services such as Spotify and Netflix, while learning and access to knowledge have lagged behind. This is exactly what Bloomlet aims to change.

A single workspace for the entire student experience
Founded in 2024, Bloomlet is based in Trondheim and employs eight people
The platform consists of two components: Bloomlet Community, which brings together communication, membership administration, events and registrations for student organisations, and Bloomlet Workspace, a personal learning environment for studying, writing and collaboration.
For student associations and orientation programmes, Bloomlet replaces multiple manual tools and disconnected systems with a unified solution, allowing information and organisational knowledge to remain accessible over time. Within Workspace, artificial intelligence is integrated as a learning support tool, adapting academic content in terms of language, format, length and depth.

Tailored learning, not one-size-fits-all solutions
Personalisation is at the core of Bloomlet's value proposition. Students face many of the same academic requirements, but they have different backgrounds, circumstances and ways of learning.
“AI should support students' learning and independent thinking, not replace it. Responsible use of artificial intelligence, privacy and trust are therefore fundamental principles in the development of our platform,” says Refsnes.
What differentiates Bloomlet from other digital learning tools is that personalisation is not a standalone feature. Instead, it is integrated throughout the student's entire workflow. Context follows the student from understanding and processing academic material to writing, knowledge testing and collaboration, with the goal of reducing friction and creating more time for meaningful learning.
Taking Norwegian learning innovation beyond borders
Bloomlet's primary market today is higher education in Norway. The platform has been developed in close dialogue with Norwegian students, student organisations and educational institutions. However, its ambitions extend far beyond national borders.
“The need for more flexible, connected and personalised learning experiences is not unique to Norway. Our ambition is to bring these same principles with us as Bloomlet grows across the Nordic region and Europe,” says Refsnes.
The value of Norwegian origin
For Bloomlet, the Made in Norway label helps make visible something that can otherwise be difficult to see in a digital product: where the technology is developed and which values and principles it is built upon. In a market dominated by large international technology platforms, the company believes Norwegian origin can strengthen trust in both the business and its solution.
“Made in Norway gives us an opportunity to showcase something we are proud of: that Bloomlet is developed in Norway, built on Norwegian and European expectations of privacy, quality and responsible technology,” concludes Refsnes.
