SEAONICS delivers electric handling, lifting and charging solutions for safe, eco-friendly, efficient and profitable offshore operations.
CHALLENGE
The maritime and offshore energy industries are under growing pressure to operate more sustainably while keeping efficiency and profitability high.
Stricter environmental regulations, the need to reduce emissions and the rapid expansion of offshore wind and subsea infrastructure demand new, future-oriented technologies.
SEAONICS addresses these challenges with all-electric lifting and handling systems designed for reliability, performance and environmental care. These include cranes, winches, gangways, and launch and recovery systems (LARS).
The company’s most recent innovation is the Ocean Charger, a high-voltage offshore charging system for battery-powered vessels. The Ocean Charger connects directly to an offshore wind farm’s grid for genuinely zero-emission vessel operations. The solution was successfully field tested in harsh North Sea conditions on board the CSOV Rem Power in early 2024.
SEAONICS lifting and handling solutions cut energy use through power regeneration, reduce maintenance thanks to simplified system design, and eliminate the risk of hydraulic oil spills. They also lower noise levels, which is vital in sensitive marine environments. Moreover, the equipment enables customers to reduce costs and extend system lifespans, and ensures safer and cleaner operations at sea.
Meanwhile, the Ocean Charger maximises operational efficiency by eliminating the need for port returns just for charging and can charge vessels during crew downtime. This means more operational hours at sea and smarter use of resources.
By combining efficiency with environmental responsibility, SEAONICS technology not only improves day-to-day performance but also supports long-term competitiveness in demanding offshore markets.
The global transition to renewable energy and subsea infrastructure is driving demand for advanced offshore technology.
SEAONICS is now entering the growing cable laying market, offering efficient, electric-driven solutions that build on its offshore expertise and position the company for future expansion.
“For us, it is extremely important to be part of the Ocean Charger project. We can now show concrete results of what we have claimed for years, and together with our partners, we can prove to the market that this is achievable.”
