All-electric, silent, emission-free Paxster enables efficient, eco-friendly enforcement of on-street parking in cities.

CHALLENGE

In most cities, the demand for parking in congested areas has increased in recent decades.

While on-street parking is convenient for motorists, this form of parking requires enforcement. Cities must ensure that motorists pay for the parking they use, and demand for the parking spaces must be regulated.

Conventional parking enforcement can be a costly, labour-intensive operation, requiring officers to travel from one parking location to the next and check each car on foot. They may also block traffic in the process.

SOLUTION

EV parking enforcement for greener cities

Paxster is an all-electric utility vehicle made for efficient, low-cost, high-tech parking enforcement. The vehicle has a semi-open design with no doors, allowing parking officers to enter and exit quickly. Made for stop-and-go operation, Paxster has an ultra-small turning radius and a narrow-body design that reduces traffic interruptions.

The vehicle comes equipped with automatic warning lamps and a panic button, and the optional ANPR camera allows parking officers to automatically scan number plates without leaving their seat.

The vehicle is available in two versions, Delivery 1000L and Cargo 1250L, both with a load-carrying capacity of 240 kg. Approximately 2.3 m long, Paxster has a normal range of 80–100 km and a maximum speed of 45–60 km/h. Produced in Norway, the vehicle can withstand rough road and weather conditions.

All vehicles come with PaxsterConnect, an open API fleet management product for increasing productivity and reducing operating costs.

BENEFITS

Paxster makes parking enforcement greener

Paxster’s small environmental footprint makes it an ideal vehicle for on-street parking enforcement, helping cities to improve ambient air quality, noise pollution and traffic congestion.

Paxster can also enhance operator efficiency, and thus parking revenues. Some customers have increased their productivity by more than 40 per cent compared to conventional vehicles.

Moreover, the vehicle consumes less electricity than larger electric vehicles, and it has lower operating costs than other electric vehicles or ICEs.

MARKET POTENTIAL

Always a need for parking management

Some kind of parking management can be found in almost all European cities and towns. In addition, most European cities still do physical checks of on-street parking, which requires a large number of parking enforcement vehicles. In Norway alone, 1 200 vehicles are used for parking enforcement.

Meanwhile, more and more public-sector entities are switching to electric vehicles as a way of meeting urban sustainability goals.

Paxster’s main market is Europe, particularly cities and municipalities.
