DignaCare is transforming incontinence care with a patented, sensor-based solution for diapers that improves dignity, efficiency and sustainability in healthcare.

CHALLENGE

Tackling routine-based incontinence care

Incontinence care is often driven by fixed schedules rather than individual needs. This can lead to patient discomfort, disturbed sleep and unnecessary interventions. SensCom has developed DignaCare to help to shift care practices towards a more needs-based model.

SOLUTION

DignaCare smart sensor enables dignified, needs-based care

DignaCare is a small, smart sensor that attaches to the outside of a diaper. It detects wetness and sends real-time alerts to caregivers via an app when a change is needed.

The patented sensor is reusable, non-invasive and CE-marked. It is designed to increase patient dignity while lessening the burden on healthcare professionals.

BENEFITS

DignaCare is positive for patients, providers and the planet

DignaCare improves patients’ quality of life and dignity, with fewer sleep disruptions, incontinence-related health problems and interventions.

DignaCare helps municipalities to reduce costs by cutting unnecessary diaper changes, laundry and resource use. It also supports a healthier work environment by reducing physical strain and stress on healthcare professionals, which can help to prevent sick leave and improve recruitment.

Environmentally, the solution lowers the consumption of disposable diapers, water, energy and detergents, contributing to a reduced climate footprint.

MARKET POTENTIAL

Growing demand for incontinence care

Demand for incontinence care is increasing globally, driven primarily by a rising geriatric population and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases that cause incontinence.

DignaCare’s target group includes older adults receiving care at home or in institutions. The solution is already in use in Norway and Sweden, and Europe and North America are the most mature markets.

SensCom is currently developing further functionality such as predictive alerting.
