About the event
Global Offshore Wind Summit Japan (GOWS) is a yearly conference and exhibition held in Japan. The comprehensive business conference with a strong line up of speakers attracts leading offshore wind companies representing developers, construction companies, service providers, technology and equipment vendors as well as policy makers and stakeholders from offshore wind regions. The conference is held in key regions for offshore wind development in Japan and collaborates with host municipalities to contribute to regional consensus building on offshore wind power. Last year it attracted 700 Japanese and foreign participants. The event is organized by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and Japan Wind Power Association (JWPA) and travels among regions with offshore wind development.
This year it will be held in Sapporo, Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan, with its great wind condition is becoming an important region for offshore wind development including floating offshore wind. This year the first bottom-fixed wind farm started operation, the Ishikari Bay New Port Offshore Wind Farm. Candidate sites for future floating offshore wind developments are identified in Hokkaido.
Innovation Norway, NORWEP, Norwegian Offshore Wind and The Norwegian Embassy of Tokyo, will organize the Norway pavilion, and a Norway Japan seminar and meeting activities with key offshore wind players in the Japanese market. Together with the Dutch embassy we are hosting the North Sea seminar. Lessons learned.
This is the third time Team Norway is present at GOWS. Participants confirmed GOWS as a successful event with great visibility for promotion in the relatively small exhibition in combination with good networking opportunities at the conference with high level business speakers.
