Look to Norway

20.11.2024

Location: Helsinki Expo and Convention Center, Helsinki, Finland

Conference

We want to repeat last year's success and are organizing a side event at Slush 2024 - LOOK TO NORWAY! Here, we will showcase the Norwegian delegation of startups and investors who will take the stage together to tell international partners why they should look to Norway now.

This year, we invite you on a journey. An inspirational journey for both investors and startups.

First up on stage is kicking us off is marketing director at Innovation Norway, Helene Friis.

After the introduction we are delighted to welcome robotics entrepreneur Bernt Øivind Børnich from 1X Technologies to give his 15 minutes talk about how to Thinking Big in a Small Country.

What is SLUSH without fireside chats; investor Amanda Hultman from Atomico and entrepreneur Marit Rødevand from Strise will give us great insight into their collaboration and experience.

Read more about our speakers:

  • Bernt Øivind Børnich is the man behind 1X Technologies, which develops and manufactures the EVE and NEO robots in Moss. 1X started as Halodi Robotics but changed its name during a larger funding round that saw investment from OpenAI's investment fund and Sandwater.
  • Marit Rødevand is the founder and CEO of Strise, which helps combat economic crime by developing software for banking and finance that automates AML and KYC processes. In 2023, Strise raised €10 million in a Series A round from Atomico.
  • Amanda Hultman is an Associate at Atomico, based in London, where she works on sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management for early-stage companies, primarily focusing on the Nordic and Baltic markets.

After the speaches featuring experienced scaling companies, the focus will turn to some of Norway's most exciting startups.

These companies will hopefully embark on the same scaling journey as Strise and 1X and will pitch their business models at Slush!

  • Agoprene with founder Celine Sandberg
Agoprene was founded to eliminate oil-based foam, producing sustainable furniture foam from seaweed. "I started the company in my student kitchen, convinced we could create foam without petroleum. After years of trial and error, we finally succeeded with our seaweed-based foam, free of petroleum".
  • Testnor with founder Ingrid Dahl Skarstein
Testnor is a one-stop shop for testing and data collection. They offer vehicle testing under extreme conditions here in the cold north and report back to manufacturers. "The future of mobility is sustainable - it is digital, automated, electric, and shared. Test activities are all about gaining new insights and data."
  • Third startup TBD

After the program on stage, we will allocate plenty of time for you to mingle with potential investors and partners. Make good use of this time!

The event is a collaboration between Innovation Norway, Startup Lab, 6AM, KUPA, and DNB.
