Sensor Innovation AS was established in 2018 with the goal of developing new innovative solutions to detect abnormal moisture and temperature development in building constructions before damages occur. At the same time, the system solution shall contribute to future buildings being climate-adapted and able to handle new functional needs. The technology INTO® is based on a combination of R&D and practical testing since 2018. This through 6 years of research collaboration with among others Sintef Community, NTNU and leading industrial partners such as Protan. The technology has thus been validated and adapted to both commercial and technical requirements in the construction industry. INTO® consists of small robust sensor nodes that are mounted in critical construction parts (e.g. compact roofs, solid wood walls and pipe-carrying shafts) to map moisture and temperature deviations in areas that have the greatest probability of damage and at the same time are most difficult to detect before it is too late. With a unique battery life of 30 years the sensors communicate wirelessly up to encrypted cloud technology, and via algorithms that combine building physics and AI data is presented in an interface that provides reporting and alarms at abnormal development of moisture and/or temperature. Through 2023 the technology received the recognition «innovation» from the environmental certification scheme BREEAM, which underlines the positive effect the technology can have on building stock in the future.
