Published 24 Nov 2025 · 2 min read

Norwegian technology and robotics company wheel.me has developed what is widely recognised as the world’s first autonomous wheel –

a groundbreaking system that transforms almost any object with a compatible frame into a self-driving, mobile robot.

With innovation and production based in Oslo and Fredrikstad, wheel.me is proud to receive the Made in Norway label.

For us, being able to say that our solutions are Made in Norway is both distinctive and valuable. It represents quality, reliability and innovation – values that are at the heart of everything we do.

Challenging the global robotics market

wheel.me is a Norwegian technology and robotics company headquartered in Oslo, with manufacturing in Fredrikstad. Autumn 2023 marked a major milestone in the company’s journey from research-driven innovation to full-scale industrial deployment, with the launch of the world’s first autonomous wheel.

What makes the solution truly unique is that it can be retrofitted to existing equipment, turning it into a self-driving unit.

“Our system allows companies to automate internal transport and material handling in a flexible way – without the need to invest in entirely new machinery or vehicles,” explains CEO Pål Rødseth.

Motivation for using the Made in Norway label

Developing and producing advanced technology in Norway is a powerful mark of quality. For wheel.me, showcasing its Norwegian origin is particularly important, especially given that many competitors are based in the Far East.

“Being able to say that our solutions are Made in Norway is both differentiating and meaningful. It signals quality, reliability and innovation – values that define who we are,” says Rødseth.

The market for wheel.me’s solutions

The ability to turn almost any object into a mobile robot has attracted significant international interest.

wheel.me primarily serves the European and American markets, where the company’s Norwegian roots resonate strongly.

“We know that our European and US customers perceive Norwegian origin as a symbol of quality, precision and trustworthiness – values that strengthen our market position and build confidence internationally,” says Rødseth.

wheel.me sells through partners specialising in automation and robotics, with a clear strategy for continued growth and international expansion.

Incorporating the label

wheel.me will integrate the Made in Norway label across its digital marketing and product lines.

“Our solution consists of a robot and a charging station – both will be clearly branded with the Made in Norway logo. In addition, the label will feature prominently across all sales and presentation materials,” says Rødseth.
