Motivation for using the Made in Norway label

Tunable recognises the global perception of Norwegian products as synonymous with quality, trust and innovation.

"By showcasing that Tunable’s products are developed and produced in Norway, we differentiate ourselves from our competitors. The values associated with Norway, such as clean nature, high trust and a well-functioning democracy, strongly resonate in the markets we serve," says Hernes.

The importance of origin in the market for Tunable's solutions

Today Tunable serves three key markets:

  • LNG tankers:Monitoring boil-off gas composition enhances engine performance, improve fuel transparency between charterers and owners and improves accuracy in fuel consumption and emissions reporting.
  • Quality control of fruits and vegetables: Detecting mould and decay to reduce food waste and improve supply chain efficiency. Learn more about the devlopment from this NOVA PBS production here.
  • Reduction of greenhouse gases from shipping: Enabling ship owners to replace estimates with precise measurements for quantifying greenhouse gas emissions and pollutants.

In addition to these sectors, Tunable sees opportunities in emerging markets requiring advanced data-driven insights. Combining hardware and AI-powered models, Tunable is positioning itself as a deeptech innovator. The company stresses the importance of high-quality gas data, which is a largely underdeveloped field.

“The Made in Norway label adds an extra layer of credibility, positioning us as a trusted supplier of advanced technology in the global market,” says Roar Hernes.

Tunable’s solutions also contribute directly to sustainability goals. For example, a single Tunable analyser deployed in one of the key markets has the potential to reduce annual emissions by 470 metric tons in CO2 equivalents. This dual impact of innovation and environmental responsibility underpins the company’s vision.
