Snekkern Norge: a nationwide network built on Norwegian craftmanship

Published 7 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

What if craftsmanship actually lived up to its promise? Not just for the next winter, but for generations to come?

That is exactly what Snekkern Norge aims to deliver. The company is a nationwide network of independent local specialists offering products, advice, site assessments, delivery and installation for both homeowners and professional customers.

VarigVerk by Snekkern, meanwhile, is the chain’s shared concept for customised, Norwegian-made products and solutions designed for long-lasting use.

Now both Snekkern Norge’s service offering to the chain’s retailers and VarigVerk by Snekkern have been awarded the Made in Norway label.

“For us, Made in Norway is more than just than a label. It is a recognition of Norwegian craftsmanship, Norwegian manufacturing and the value of creating solutions that are built to last. Through Snekkern Norge, our network of dealers, and VarigVerk by Snekkern, we want to make it easier for customers to choose Norwegian quality.”

From purchasing cooperative to nationwide chain

The story began in 1959, when Nortrea AL was established as a purchasing cooperative bringing together retailers, manufacturers and suppliers, long before anyone spoke of retail chains as a business concept. In 1996, the network was united under a single name, Snekkern Norge AS, and in 2025 the company was restructured to support continued growth and development.

More than six decades later, the core idea remains the same. Local specialists meet private and professional customers face to face, while a national organisation provides shared marketing, supplier partnerships and quality standards behind the scenes.

One expert, one project, one point of contact

Snekkern’s local retailers support homeowners throughout the entire process, from the first consultation to the finished result. Services include on-site assessment, expert advice, delivery, installation and after-sales support, as well as repair and refurbishment when needed. The goal is simple: products should not be replaced simply because time has passed.

For architects, contractors and other professional customers, the network offers dependable deliveries, product expertise and smooth project execution, regardless of where in Norway a project is located.

Meanwhile, VarigVerk by Snekkern brings together long-established Norwegian manufacturers, many with roots in traditional wood production, under a shared concept for products and solutions made in Norway and designed to last. By helping strengthen these manufacturers and create demand for Norwegian-made products, the aim is also to preserve valuable production expertise and local industry in Norway for future generations.

“Made in Norway provides us with a strong and credible platform for highlighting the values on which Snekkern is built. The label put words and a recognised label behind something that has always been important to Snekkern, skilled local professionals, Norwegian manufacturing and solutions that are made to last. We want to use the label actively to make these qualities more visible and accessible to customers,” says Marketing Director Laura Aasberg.

Craftsmanship as a competitive advantage

Snekkern Norge has no intention of treating the label as a symbol alone. For the company, it represents something more significant: documented proof that Norwegian expertise and Norwegian manufacturing meet high standards.

“We believe Made in Norway can become an important competitive advantage for us. The label gives us a stronger platform for building visibility and trust around both Snekkern Norge and VarigVerk by Snekkern. Over time, we believe it can help strengthen our retailers and manufacturing companies while increasing demand for Norwegian-made solutions,” concludes Managing Director Tone Jakobsen.
