Pressure has been measured in Hokksund since 1903.
What began as a dedicated manometer factory now supplies pressure gauges and temperature sensors to industries around the world.
Both product groups have been awarded the Made in Norway label.
“We see Made in Norway as a brand for Norwegian manufacturers and as a symbol of high Norwegian quality. This applies both to the products themselves and to a value chain that safeguards quality and sustainability.”
Morten Stene-Larsen
Director Field Instrumentation, MRC Global Norway
From pressure gauge factory to modern instrument production
The story in Hokksund dates back to 1903, when the company was established as company Clausen, Kaldager & Co. It began as a dedicated manometer factory, supplying instruments to the marine sector, the paper industry and other industries.
Today, 73 people are working at the facility in Hokksund, where pressure gauges and temperature sensors are manufactured. The operation is part of MRC Global Norway, which is headquartered in Stavanger and has branches in Hokksund and Bergen. The company employs 163 people in Norway.
Instruments that help industry stay in control
Pressure gauges are used to measure pressure and level, while temperature sensors measure temperature in a range of industrial applications. Both product groups now carry the Made in Norway label.
Each year, MRC Global Norway supplies more than 900 customers, including companies in the energy and marine sectors, land-based industry, water and wastewater, food and aquaculture, and renewable industries. Most are based in Norway, but the company also exports its equipment internationally.

Tailored solutions developed together with customers
A long manufacturing history is not the only thing that sets the company apart from its competitors. MRC Global Norway offers tailored solutions and often develops products in collaboration with its customers.
“Our products are characterised by exceptionally high quality and precision. We provide tailored solutions and often develop products in close collaboration with our customers. Customers and partners appreciate our flexibility and expertise,” continues Stene-Larsen.
The company is Norway’s sole manufacturer of pressure gauges, as well as the country’s largest manufacturer of temperature sensors.
“We have more than 123 years of experience in manufacturing pressure gauges and over 56 years of experience in manufacturing temperature sensors,” adds Stene-Larsen
Proud of a label that represents Norwegian quality
For MRC Global Norway, the Made in Norway label is a way to highlight the Norwegian origin of its products and an advantage when moving into new markets.
“We believe the label can raise awareness and inspire customers to choose products made in Norway. It will also create opportunities for further growth for us in both new and existing markets,” concludes Stene-Larsen.
