About the project

Isar Aerospace, a German startup company, has chosen Andøya Spaceport in Norway as the launch site for its Spectrum launch vehicle. The company secured exclusive access to one of Andøya Space’s launch pads for up to 20 years, marking a significant milestone for the European New Space industry.

This partnership will enable Isar Aerospace to conduct the first satellite launches by a European startup from European soil, providing long-term turnkey launch solutions and offering clients maximum flexibility and planning security.

The selection of Andøya Spaceport was strategic due to its favorable location and capabilities. Situated far north on the Norwegian coastline, Andøya can offer launch inclinations ranging from 87.4 to 108 degrees, which are ideal for sun-synchronous and polar orbits. The spaceport’s flight path ensures a trajectory that does not cross populated areas, thereby enhancing safety.

Isar Aerospace has rapidly grown to over 30 employees and has already made significant investments in launch infrastructure, with more investments in the pipeline.
