From Fredrikstad to international markets

Founded in 1986, Biosan has evolved into an established Norwegian brand specialising in dietary supplements and health products. Based in Rolvsøy, Fredrikstad, the company develops, markets and sells dietary supplements, omega-3 products, and other health and beauty products on the Norwegian and international market.

The products draw upon Norwegian expertise in health, nutrition and wellbeing, and the company has a strong focus on documentation. Biosan’s guiding principles remain the same as when it was founded: Norwegian values such as quality, trust, responsibility and a long-term perspective should be reflected in everything it delivers.

Omega-3 from Norwegian waters

Biosan Premium Omega-3 Seal Oil is a dietary supplement made from seal oil of Norwegian origin. The oil is encapsulated in soft gelatine capsules and packaged in Norway. It contains the essential omega-3 fatty acids EPA, DHA and DPA.

EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, while DHA helps maintain normal brain function and normal vision.

Alongside it is Biosan Premium Cod Liver Oil, which is made with premium Norwegian cod liver oil from sustainable fisheries and certified by Debio as sustainably wild-caught.

Together, the products demonstrate how Norwegian marine resources can be transformed into premium dietary supplements.

Quality, traceability and documented content

Biosan’s customers are health-conscious consumers seeking safe, effective and traceable products. Its product range is designed to support different needs throughout life, from heart health and cognitive function to energy, beauty and general wellbeing.

What sets Biosan apart from many competitors is its combination of Norwegian product development, local production, longstanding traditions and innovative ingredients. The company employs modern research findings when crafting its products from Norwegian raw materials.

“For customers, Biosan provides reassurance that its products are developed with a focus on quality, traceability and documented content,” says Bjørn Arild Skjeltorp Sælid, Sales Manager at Biosan.

Ambitious growth plans in Europe and Asia

Since 2015, Biosan has expanded into both Europe and Asia, where its products are distributed through various partners and sales channels. The company plans to strengthen its position in existing markets while working systematically to establish itself in new countries in Asia and Europe.

Its ambition is to make Biosan a well-known and preferred brand in both regions, while promoting Norwegian quality, innovation and origin abroad. Biosan aims to build a strong and recognised Norwegian brand in health, nutrition and wellbeing, based on research, documented ingredients and sustainable solutions.

Why the Made in Norway label matters to Biosan

For a company with such clear international ambitions, Norwegian origin is a central part of the story. Biosan sees the label as a way to highlight its Norwegian roots, quality standards and values linked to responsibility and sustainability.

“We expect the Made in Norway label to strengthen our credibility, increase our visibility in international markets and help us differentiate ourselves more clearly from global competitors,” Eline Lund Sælid concludes.
