Located in Årøybukt, near the Lyngenfjord and beneath the Lyngen Alps, you will find the world’s northernmost distillery: Aurora Spirit Distillery.
Since beginning production, Aurora Spirit has created award-winning beverages sold under the BIVROST brand, using local ingredients such as herbs, berries and glacier water to craft high-quality spirits with a strong sense of place. It has now been awarded the Made in Norway label.
In addition to its products, Aurora Spirit offers accommodation, tours and tastings in spectacular surroundings, allowing Norwegian and international travellers from all over the world to experience the true essence of the Arctic.
Combining traditional craftsmanship and local ingredients in Arctic conditions, Aurora Spirit Distillery emphasises its Norwegian origin, which shapes its production process and influences the unique character of its spirits. The Made in Norway label strengthens the distillery’s connection with Norwegian values, and draws attention to its authenticity, quality and responsible production.
“We joined the Made in Norway label because it highlights authenticity and Norwegian production, while building international recognition for Norwegian quality. Being ‘Made in Norway’ is key to our identity and brand,” says Sørsand.
Aurora Spirit Distillery's products are available across several continents, with many of its markets requiring tailored communication to meet diverse expectations. Country of origin is, however, a common factor across all markets.
“For us, the country of origin is incredibly important in our marketing, and we use it very deliberately as part of our communication. Becoming part of the label was therefore a natural extension of something we already do,” Sørsand continues.
The distillery operates in the premium segment, with products aimed at both Norwegian and international customers who place a high value on quality, responsible production and local origin.
Aurora Spirit Distillery is gradually incorporating the Made in Norway label across all relevant products, ensuring that it is featured in presentations, marketing materials and on the company website.
Furthermore, the distillery views being part of the Made in Norway label as an opportunity to explore potential collaborations with other Norwegian businesses within the initiative, enhancing their collective visibility in the global market.
“Being part of the Made in Norway label is a natural extension of the values we’ve upheld from the start. It’s a testament to our Norwegian roots and the high-quality products we offer. We proudly showcase this identity across our products, marketing materials and website,” concludes Sørsand.
