  • App which automatically buys electricity on behalf of consumers
  • Replaces traditional electricity providers
  • Cuts energy consumption by up to 20 per cent and allows customers to buy green energy

Tibber is the first fully digital energy company in the world. It empowers customers to control their energy usage from a mobile app, reducing energy consumption by up to 20 per cent.

Worldwide, the energy market is dominated by large and traditional companies. With new patterns of consumption, however, the traditional energy market lacks the flexibility it needs to efficiently provide energy to customers.

Grid capacity is challenged by, for instance, electric vehicles charging at times when there is already a peak demand for electricity. And the transition from fossil energy sources to intermittent renewable energy complicates the picture further.

Controlling consumption

Being the first fully digital energy company in the world, Tibber replaces the traditional energy supplier with a user-friendly app. The app continuously shops for the cheapest green energy on behalf of consumers. Also, when connecting smart home technology such as electric vehicles and heating systems, the app automatically shifts energy consumption to times of the day when electricity is cheaper. Easy as that.

Concrete benefits

Tibber empowers customers to become part of a digital energy system, making electricity cheaper and easier to control. The app helps customers to reduce energy consumption by up to 20 per cent. And by connecting the Tibber system to smart technology and IoT, customers can reduce their electricity cost even further.

The solution also benefits the system operators, as the Tibber technology gives them access to aggregated loads of flexible electricity from multiple households.

Market potential

In Europe, system operators spend approximately EUR 790 million per year on consumer flexibility services. The market is estimated to be worth close to EUR 3 billion by 2025, according to market researchers Frost & Sullivan.

Tibber was founded in 2016. The company currently delivers electricity services to Germany, Norway and Sweden, and has plans for further expansion.
