At a glance

  • Boosts efficiency in transport and construction operations
  • Ideal for driver improvement programmes
  • Helps to reduce COâ‚‚ emissions and wear on equipment

Nearly a quarter of global COâ‚‚ emissions from fuel combustion are produced by the transportation sector. The construction sector, meanwhile, creates 11 per cent of global emissions by way of building materials and construction processes. Most transport and construction companies are small, with five to ten trucks and/or machines. In addition to environmental challenges, these companies face economic challenges, such as unplanned downtime, high maintenance costs, and insufficient exploitation of capacity of vehicles and equipment.

Versatile transport software

The Linx platform from Cognia Technology promotes the digitalisation of the transport and construction industries by providing access to data on vehicles, equipment, drivers, customers, and more – all in one place. This allows companies to reduce overhead costs and become more efficient, while at the same time cutting emissions.

Linx collects data from various systems and sources, such as truck and construction equipment manufacturers and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. This data is then cleansed and contextualised to create structured datasets for use in the platform’s various modules.

The modules include fleet analysis, fleet and asset management, service and maintenance, and compliance with regulatory requirements. At the heart of the platform are driver scorecards, which track individual performance to optimise overall output.

Linx is cloud-based and brand-neutral. It is provided as Software as a Service (SaaS), requires no installation, and can be used on smartphones, tablets and computers.

Concrete benefits

Linx helps to make transport and construction operations more environmentally and economically sustainable.

In driver improvement programmes, potential for fuel reduction is normally 5 to 10 per cent, along with associated COâ‚‚ emissions. As a tool for monitoring, prioritising and adjusting efforts to reach this level of reduction, Linx has proven valuable for operators, local managers, top management and change agents alike.

The platform is also a valuable tool for reducing wear and tear on trucks and equipment, thereby extending service intervals, lowering parts costs and increasing residual value.

Moreover, Linx enables companies to improve planning, traffic safety, and exploitation of vehicle and equipment capacity. It also facilitates effective communication among stakeholders.

Market potential

There is significant market potential for Linx as the transport and construction industries are making the transition to a digital ecosystem. Linx provides the tools companies need to reduce and document their carbon footprint and meet increasingly stringent emissions requirements.

Other potential customers and partners include finance and insurance companies, statistics bureaus, government agencies, and others interested in data flows from sensors in trucks and construction equipment.

Cognia Technology is in the process of entering new markets, first in Scandinavia and then Europe. Linx is currently being translated into several languages.
